In everything you look at, there's something that you've might have missed, or haven't yet noticed. (When you see something, see something). An artist misses what a scientist finds, and vice-versa. Sometimes the eye detects things in the environment, then later you realize that it's more deeply interesting, and is connected to some other thing you saw or were thinking about.
