We have devolved in many ways, and technology has helped that along. Perhaps technology is not so much a continuous extension of ourselves, but rather like the skin that is continually being replaced. It's not that our Umvelt is limited, it is rather being sloughed-off and replaced by new 'extensions'. Once the old skin cells are replaced, there is no way of getting the old ones (the old ways of seeing) back.
