It's amazing how real estate developers can transform an urban landscape so quickly and put up a pharmacy or a Starbucks on every corner. It seems to happen overnight. But then you see old shops in buildings awaiting the wrecking ball--where someone opens a little boutique--and you see how someone sees hope and opportunity where someone saw blight and hopelessness.
