Songs usually tell you what they're about, but sometimes you can tell them what they're about. 

While I've been working on the Songdays album (or what might become an album -- or playlist) I've been in the routine of writing songs very quickly. In the very beginning they're almost about nothing, then the words suggest a meaning, that either you accept, or reject. If you reject the implied meaning, you tell the songs what the songs are about, forcing a new meaning.
