Electronic text is deceiving in that it always appears recent or current. It is like a "metal" that doesn't rust or show sign of age or decay, and can be endlessly recycled, both as a physical material, and also as a cultural container. Electronic text is immortal and undated (in the absence of metadata). Perhaps it is more useful to have printed text, as the decay rate of paper adds a visual clue as to its currency.
