Creative routines create a reason to be creative. Over the long term, you slightly adjust the routines every year or so, so you look forward to that change: you're working on one and you're looking forward to the next series. It keeps your eye on a horizon, even if it's imaginary.  A series also creates a reason, even if you're making the next one in the series, and have ideas what the next string of series might be. If you make something that doesn't fit in a series, find a way to re-contextualize it so that it fits in a series. This entry is an idea for a lyric, which can become a part of an album of songs, and so on. Put yourself in a generative system, or systems. It's essentially fractal in nature.
