If you write music or lyrics, ear worms are your cloying little friend. When you sit quietly working through music or a lyric, the rhythms will play in a loop in your mind. Once the music develops, the ear worm plays along with it. Sometimes when you hear other music it can replace the original ear worm and will re-shape the music. It's how influence and inspiration work: you can't avoid breathing it all in.
